Imphal, February 05 2017:
Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Gunpi Block has warned of launching different forms of intense agitation in case the Government fails to nab those KNLF cadres who brutally assaulted and shot its president and his friend within three days.
Making the announcement in a press meet held at its office located near Sugnu this evening, KSO Gunpi Block vice-president Paominlun Khongsai declared that the organisation would impose bandh in Chandel and boycott Indian National Congress (INC) in the coming State Assembly election in the district if the Government fails to arrest the KNLF cadres involved in the act within the set deadline.
He said that people are well aware of the fact that KSO Gunpi Block president Jangkholan Guite and his friend Jamchinthang Zou were brutally assaulted before they were shot by KNLF general secretary Lalmoi @ Jonglenlal Haokip and his men on January 1 last.
KNLF is a constituent of KNO, a signatory of Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement, he reminded.
He reiterated that KSO GHQ had imposed a bandh in Chandel on January 7 and 8 against the assault but nothing has been done by the Government to nab the attackers.
Such inaction on the part of the Government has compelled the organisation to come up with other mode of agitation, Paominlun said.
Asking the reasons behind the Government's failure to nab the culprits despite taking more than one month, he clarified that the agitation to be launched is not against any community.
Any untoward incident that arises out of the agitation should be the sole responsibility of the Government, he cautioned.
He added that public will be informed in advance about the date and duration of the bandh to be imposed in
Chandel district.
