More damage reports pour in

The devastating earthquake which rocked the entire State last morning ravaged 40 houses out of 55 houses of Old Kabui Khullen village located under Haochong sub-division of Tamenglong district even as more reports about damages caused by the earthquake pour in from different parts of the State.
The families whose houses have been damaged or destroyed have been taking refuge at relief camps opened at the local community hall and the youth centre, informed the All Inpui Students' Union.
Shalwan Khumba, president of the union said that the earthquake created cracks as wide as five/six inches.
People of neighbouring Pungmon village are jittery as a large crack has surfaced in the middle of the village apart from ravaging many houses and a large number of people have been displaced.
The tremor also ravaged the PHSC building of Chanam Sandrok as well as the house of one Wangkhem Bokulei located at Langjing Achouba Makha Leikai.

Following the powerful tremor of 6.8 magnitude which shook the entire of North East yesterday, Mani-pur Information Technology Park building at Mantripukhri has reportedly developed visible cracks at some portion of the building.
The foundation for the IT park was laid on March 11, 2011 by the then President Pratibha Patil.
On July 4, 2015, the completed building was inaugurated in the presence of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam.
Portions of the wall above and on the sides of the front door and some other parts of the building have developed visible cracks because the earthquake yesterday.
Some portions of the wall inside office rooms have also peeled off in the tremor.
Four Manipur based companies have begun their projects at the IT park since its inaugural, an official at the IT park told TSE today.
These companies are � Copijent Company, Sangai Technology, Cub Ten Company and Unitanc Company.
Over 60 persons are presently working at the IT park, he stated.
A team of PWD and IT Park official had scrutinized the damages incurred in the tremor yesterday.
The visiting PWD officials had assured of no immediate danger and had further advised to resume work.
The IT park will be reopened after the holidays announced by the Government yesterday, the official said.
Sit-in protest staged Thoubal, Jan 5 : A day after the earthquake damaged portion of pillars of New Market Complex and Tampha Keithel buildings, women vendors staged a sit-in protest condemning the State Government's alleged negligence while constructing the market buildings, reports our correspondent.
Protesters said that the markets buildings which were inaugurated in October 2009 have been closed down to avert any untoward incident.
Moreover, some portion of the buildings are still under construction.
A public meeting was also held by the Federation of Clubs, Yairipok yesterday morning.
Subsequently, a memorandum urging the State Government to provide temporary market sheds for the vendors and to repair the damaged buildings was submitted to Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh through local MLA Keisham Meghachandra, protesters stated.
In the meantime, buildings of the District and Session Judge, Thoubal and Amakcham Primary School witnessed cracks while some houses at Thoubal Melaground and Khangabok Part-III were also partly damaged.
Laishram Aka (85) of Khangabok Part-III sustained head injury.
She was rushed to Thoubal district hospital for treatment.
Manishang Upper Primary School, Thoubal Wangmataba Mathak Leikai and Thoubal District Table Tennis Association indoor hall were also partially damaged by the tremor.
