Two police personnel, who were on duty at the Imphal West police control room on the intervening night of July 10 and 11 today testified before the Manorama Inquiry Panel that 17 Assam Rifles personnel did not make any contacts with them nor asked for women constables during the arrest of Manorama on that particular night.
It may be mentioned here that Assam Rifles, in its complaint lodged to the Irilbung PS on the morning of July 11, had stated that the AR party after arresting Manorama had moved to deposit her to the nearest PS and accordingly a message was passed to the police control room for arranging women police constables.
The two police personnel who testified before the panel headed by C Upendra, retired district and session judged have been identified as K Sarat Singh and A Gopeswar Sharma.
The two were examined by the Inquiry Commission separately.
It is reliably learnt that the Assam Rifles in its affidavit stated that the AR party that arrested Manorama had made a telephone call to one Sub Inspector to make necessary arrangements for lady constables.
The two police personnel when quizzed on the matter also testified that they did not receive any message from any police Sub Inspector while they were on duty at the control room on that night.
Upon such statement, the Commission has summoned the SI to testify before it tomorrow.
OC of Irilbung PS, an ASI of the same station along with two younger brothers of the deceased girl will be examined by the Commission tomorrow, sources said.
