State forces deployed on highway : DGP

State forces have been deployed at six different points along Mao-Taphou section of Imphal-Dimapur highway so as to ward off any untoward incident along the highway, informed DGP LM Khaute.
For protection of Imphal-Mao highway, the State Government has initiated due measures to deploy IRB and MR personnel at six different points along Mao-Taphou section and they have been provided necessary vehicles.
In addition to police stations and security forces deployed along the highway, extra security personnel would be deployed and the new initiative is aimed at making people more secure while travelling along the highway, informed the DGP.
Kangpokpi police would be responsible for protecting the highway from Taphou till near Sekmai.
Notably Chief Minister N Biren went on record stating that the Central Government had approved establishment of four IRB battalions which would be used as highway protection force.
Extra forces deployed along the highway would carry out regular patrolling exercises and they would also assist in maintaining law and order, and a deployment order has been issued today.
Meanwhile, as per a directive of the State Home Department, all foreigner check-posts have been alerted regarding possible entry of foreigners into the State in illegal manner.
Civil police would join CID personnel in manning foreigner check posts and all SPs have been instructed to carry out extensive drives against illegal entry of foreigners into the State.
