Congress MLAs look for Delhi dole

All the 42 Congress legislators are planning to apprise Central Government leaders on the need to provide a special economic package to address various difficulties being faced by the people of Manipur, informed Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency MLA RK Anand.
RK Anand was speaking at a felicitation programme organised for him by Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Block Congress Committee at Hiyangthang.
The event was also attended by Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee vice president MLA T Mangibabu and MPCC secretary (administration) S Jiten.
Pointing out that election to the 10th manipur Legislative Assembly was held amid intense threats and bomb attacks targeting Congress workers and nominees, Anand attributed courage of the voters in the party winning 42 out of 60 seats in the state legislature.
Expressing that the overwhelming margin of victory reflected faith of the people on the Congress party, he noted that voting Congress to power demonstrated the masses' expectations and aspirations to see the State's progression.
As the Congress party is in power in both the state and the Centre, Congress MLAs of Manipur are planning to approach the Central leaders for a special economic package to enable the State Government serve the people in a more efficient manner, he stated while conveying gratitude to people of the Assembly segment for their continuous support to him.
Acknowledging that people of the Assembly constituency unhesitatingly parting with their ancestral and agricultural lands to facilitate expansion of Tulihal Airport as well as development of oil depot was out of consideration for the overall development of Manipur, RK Anand also informed that all out efforts are being made to provide/release relevant compensation amount at the earliest.
Speaking at the occasion, MLA T Mangibabu expressed hope that today's event will usher a new era of close rapport between the AC's legislator group and party's organisational group.
Block Congress Committee president S Chaoba in his address asserted that the event will further strengthen the relationship between the local MLA and the masses.
He also exuded confidence that MLA Anand will contribute his mite in strengthening the party organisation at the assembly segment level.
