Re-plant uprooted trees: CM to officials

Chief Minister N Biren has directed all officials concerned to re-plant those trees which were uprooted and left to perish during the ongoing development work of NH 2 from Koirengei to Khabam Chum-breithong and its median.
The trees/plants uprooted and damaged during the road development works were planted when Chief Minister N Biren was the Minister of State for Forest and Environment.
The Chief Minister discussed the matter of uprooting/damaging the trees with PWD officials and the Project Manager of M/S Shivalaya Construction Private Limited.
During the meeting held this morning at the Chief Minister's office, Biren instructed all officials to re-plant the uprooted trees and not to harm the plants/trees which are still growing.
The officials responded that the uprooted trees would be re-planted and utmost care would be taken to ensure that the plants/trees which are still growing are not touched.
On the other hand, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest issued an order yesterday whereby M/S Shivalaya Construction Pvt Ltd was instructed to re-plant all the uprooted/damaged trees and to deposit adequate amount necessary for maintenance of the trees/plants for three years in the DDO account of the DFO, Urban Forestry Division.
The PCCF further made it clear that the order should be complied with within one week and added that non-compliance would attract appropriate legal action against M/S Shivalaya Construction Pvt Ltd.
