CCpur, November 01 2015 :
The three-day long Chavang Kut observed here reached its zenith today with dance troupes from several tribes, which are making their debut appearance in the Chavang Kut celebration, showcasing their myriad traditional dances to celebrate the brotherhood of a Nation that is said to have been lost in the wilderness for millennia.
Thousands thronged the Peace Ground as they sought to have a glimpse of the coming together of so many kindred tribes amidst the reservation raised by some section on holding such a celebration when the bodies of nine 'tribal martyrs' are still awaiting their last rite, two months after they were killed while protesting the alleged 'anti-tribal Bills' passed by the Manipur Assembly.
The beauty of Chavang Kut at Peace Ground, according to Dr Seilen Haokip, is it has hosted a myriad cognate group, the ethnic ties of some of which were lately discovered.
Accordingly a manuscript of Kut souvenir containing pictorial and written narratives of these tribes was released today.
KNO President PS Haokip in his Chavang Kut message said the occasion is a celebration of brotherhood by the God chosen Nation that had lost their God, religion, language, identity and Nationality.
'Today, my brothers, is a day of re-union of long parted brothers, following dispersal in the course of millennium journey.
Though separated by political boundaries and gap of time and space, the bonding tie of culture, customs, traditions and language have not faded; only for a period of time the sense of brotherhood was not entirely realised.
Our gathering today is of especial significance because it affirms our relationship of love, affection and the eternal bond of brotherhood,' he said.
Stalls displaying traditional artefacts of the tribal people have been set up and models engaged to replicate their age-old tradition even as the main celebration was underway all through the day.
Folk games which were once a very prominent amusement element of the tribal society but were gradually replaced by modern and foreign games were conducted yesterday much to the delight of many.
Even as a Darlong leader from Tripura declared that there are more than 27 Kuki groups in Tripura which are still in a deep state of hibernation the master of ceremony Hejang Misao announced the swelling number in the cognate tribes from 43 to 45 with Chang and Sangtam from Nagaland included in the list.
