Imphal, November 30 2013 :
Until and unless Chief Minister O Ibobi tenders an apology to the people of Manipur regarding the con-troversial Indo-Myanmar bor- der fencing, BJP would not rest but take up the issue at the na-tional level, said BJP Manipur unit president Th Chaoba.
Notably, an all-party delegation led by Chief Minister O Ibobi would leave for New Delhi tomorrow afternoon to study the border fencing row with central leaders.
However, MPP and BJP are not part of the team.
Speaking to media persons at its Nityaipat Chuthek office today, Th Chaoba conveyed that during a recent trip to Delhi he urged the BJP National president to take up the Indo-Myanmar border fencing row at the national level.
At this, the BJP president assured that he would first write a strongly-worded letter to the Prime Minister and the further course of action may be decided based on the response of the Prime Minister.
Lok Sabha opposition lea-der Sushma Swaraj as well as Rajya Sabha opposition lea-der Arun Jaitley are deeply concerned with the Indo-Myanmar border fencing row.
They too assured to table the matter in the winter session of Parliament which begins on December 5, Chaoba said.
It's time for MPs of all political parties and civil society organisations, leaving aside all differences, to take up the issue at the national level collectively.
The Prime Minister of India and the Chief Minister of Manipur cannot remain silent after they gave their consent to construct the border fence without informing the people of Manipur.
The outrage about loss of Manipur's territory can be ad-dressed only by the Parlia- ment.
T hat is why, BJP has been working to put up the issue at the national level, Chaoba asserted.
BJP spokesman Prof S Tiken questioned as to why the Chief Minister asked other political parties to talk about the border fencing issue with central leaders after he had gi-ven consent to construct the border fence right through the Yangoupokpi-Lokchao Wildlife Sanctuary.
In case the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and the External Affairs Minister refused to pay any heed to the all-party delegation, all the parties which are part of the team would earn bad name.
BJP's project MP candidate for Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency Prof Gangmumei Kamei was also present at the present meet.
