More murder accused held

After the arrest of Md Amir Khan (22) of Litanpokpi village in connection with the murder of truck driver Kumud Ali, police have arrested three other persons allegedly involved in the case today.
Police were also successful in seizing 153 carton boxes containing Lays and Kurkure packets looted from Kumud's truck and a bus (MN05/1173) used in the transportation of these goods.
The packaged foods were recovered from renteda room at Hatta Golapati during a raid conducted by a team of Imphal West district police led by Lamphel SDPO Kashar.
The owner of the rented room has been identified as Md Nasir (40) s/o Abdul Haque of the same locality.
The arrested persons have been identified as bus driver Md Abdul Samad alias Khamba (32) s/o late Md Abdul Salam of Mayang Imphal Bengoon, handymen of the bus, Md Kora (19) s/o late Md Pishak of Irong Makha Leikai and Md Hesamuddin (35) s/o late Md Aku of Mayang Imphal Bengoon Awang Leikai.
Police investigation revealed that some persons led by one Md Sanayai (45) of Keibung Mayai Leikai left the packaged foods in the rented room at Hatta Golapati in the wee hours of May 10 .
One day before he brought the goods at the room, Sanayai took the room on rent at Rs 10, 000 .
He gave Rs 5000 as advance payment to owner Nasir.
It may be mentioned that Kumud Ali was found dead in the morning of May 9 near Sapermeina after he was abducted from Sekmai.
He was transporting packaged foods in a truck (AS-01/CC-2206) from Guwahati to Imphal.
