CAU Imphal 13th in ICAR ranking

Central Agricultural University, Imphal has been placed in the 13th position among 73 agricultural universities in the country in the prestigious ICAR ranking of agricultural universities 2020 .
In the last two years, the university had been ranked 25th.Director of instruction Dr S Basanta said that the momentous achievement of the university is the result of its outstanding performance in academics, research and transfer of technology output.
During the reported period, 4.76 per cent and 5.04 per cent of students of the university cleared the all India JRF and SRF exams, and 16.96 per cent and 4.2 per cent of them got admission in PG and PhD programmes in reputed universities through open examinations conducted by ICAR and IIT.
At the same time, publications in reputed journals of high Thompson Index per faculty were 0.24.Four varieties of rice and cassava and 10 technologies, which are widely adopted by farmers of seven north eastern states, were developed during the period.
Research projects worth Rs 33.34 crore were granted by various funding agencies.
In technology transfer, 6495 training programmes were organised.
Moreover, 12 foreign students also took admission in various programmes of the university.
The vice-chancellor of CAU Imphal Dr Anupam Mishra congratulated the statutory officers, faculties and staff of the university on the outstanding achievement.
