Imphal, March 13 2023:
Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup has asserted that outsiders will not be allowed to become owners of state's land.
Speaking to media persons at Khwairamband Nupi Keithel here on Monday, Marup general secretary Laishram Mema urged the government to set up an enquiry committee to expose elements abetting illegal immigrants and to swiftly deport them.
It is unfortunate that illegal immigrants particularly from Myanmar, Nepal and Bangladesh residing in the state are now claiming to be indigenous people and declared many hill areas as their land, she contended, while demanding the government to detect illegal outsiders in the state and make them return to their original places.
Those outsiders who refuse to return should be kept in jail and take necessary actions according to law of the land, she added.
Pointing out that outsiders are indulging in deforestation for making new settlements and planting poppy causing tremendous impact on the environment, she said that deporting illegal outsiders will protect the identity of the land.
She further stressed that people need to join hands and fight together against the invasion by outsiders so as to save indigenous people.
