Imphal, May 14 2021:
Many doctors and nurses of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), who are in the frontline of combating the pandemic, have reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 .
According to a reliable source, a total of 20 doctors and nurses of JNIMS have tested positive for Covid-19 and they are currently undergoing treatment at the Covid Ward of the hospital.
However, they are facing many inconveniences due to the apathy of the government, so much as that the doctors of the hospital are pooling money for the treatment of their affected colleagues including arranging food, oxygen and medicines.
The source further conveyed that among the infected doctors and nurses, the oxygen saturation levels of some of them are dangerously low.
The apathetic attitude of the authorities concerned towards the doctors and nurses, especially when they have been putting their lives at risk to help the people during the pandemic has greatly upset the medical personnel.
It is important for the government to take serious note of the matter and initiate all necessary actions at the earliest, the source conveyed.
