Imphal, September 05 2022:
All Manipur Water Resources Department Employees and Workers' Organisation has demanded authorities concerned to adopt a new wage rate for the workers in Manipur.
In a release, general secretary of the Organisation L Bimolchandra pointed out that the current rate of wages of workers in the state was implemented in 2016 December by labour department, but wages should be revised in tune with the changing time every five years as is mandated in the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 and in the state rule.
The failure to revise the wages for workers even after six years is unfortunate, he contended, While informing that the present wage rate of skilled worker is Rs 273, semi-skilled Rs 248 and unskilled worker is Rs 225, Bimolchandra said that the existing wage rate is not in tune with the changing time and further appealed for revising the daily wages for workers.
