ISTV celebrates its 20th foundation day

Chief Minister N Bi-ren Singh on Friday congratulated and expressed best wishes to the Information Service Television Network on its 20th Foundation Day and further appreciated sincerity, hard-work and contribution of the network to the state.
As chief guest of the 20th foundation day celebration of ISTV held at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), here, CM Biren said: "We live in a democracy and enjoy freedom of expression, freedom of press" .
While stating that government accept criticisms, but not accusation, he further stressed on the need to understand the differences between the two.
Stressing the need for living together, he maintained that no community should dominate over another.
Good governance can only be brought when there is understanding among the different communities residing in the state.
Regarding the war on drugs campaign, Biren pointed out that the campaign has become a people's war and will soon be a success.
Both the print and electronic media have important roles to play in building a society, but the visual medium is more effective in creating awareness among the people.
With the mass awareness among the public, people are coming out voluntarily in support of the war on drug and destroying poppy plantation.
The CM also said that once the 34 police outposts constructed along the border are complete, it will prevent influx of illegal immigrants along the border.
The celebration was also attended by ministers Awangbow Newmai, Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh, Thounaojam Basantakumar Singh and MLAs including Thongam Shanti Singh and Sanasam Premchandra Singh among others.
