Locals warn of shutting down Jiri Road

Jiribam, March 13 2023: Local clubs and Meira Paibi associations operating in areas from Lamlong Keithel to Helipad, 50 bedded hospital and nearby villages have cautioned of shutting the lone road connecting all the aforementioned places, if the same is not repaired before March 15 .

Addressing a press meet held at Lamnoupokpi (Harinagar) on Monday morning, Meira Paibi leader T Mukta Khombi said that the road passing from Lamlong Keithel of Khuningthek Leikai through Bidyanagar, Lamlen Khun, Harinagar and Uchathol along with Helipad and Jiribam 50- bedded Hospital is in a deplorable condition.

Despite repeated requests including memorandums submitted and protests launched by the local clubs and Meira Paibi associations since August last year for repairing the road and assurances given by the authorities concerned for the same, no action has been taken up till date.

Thus, she demanded the authorities concerned to repair the road at the earliest, failing which the road will be closed for an indefinite period from 8am of March 15 .

However, movement of medical, fire services and the media will be relaxed, she added.
