Imphal, October 30 2021:
The JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO did not call any special general body meeting on October 31, clarified a statement of the JAC issued by its president Th John.
The statement inforrried that new office bearers of the JAC were elected under the provision of Article 4 of the JAC's constitution.
It is unfortunate for L Biken to term it unconstitutional.
As per Article 9(1) and (2), the term for an executive committee is four years.
Article 9(2) allows extension of the president's post for six months to 1 year at the maximum under certain circumstances and new office bearers should be elected before the expiry of the extension period.
As such, the tenure for L Biken lapsed in 2017 as the executive council was formed in 2013.Besides, the executive council headed by L Biken failed to keep up the works and functioning of the JAC and as such workers, employees and pensioners can no longer trust the JAC, the statement said.
Led by these issues along with others, a special general body meeting was held at the conference hall of state guest house on October 4 and a new executive council was formed.
L Biken is no longer in the executive council and the special general body meeting called by him is unconstitutional, the statement added.
