Imphal, September 28 2022:
While denouncing the lack of progress and sub-standard construction of ITI, Noney, Longmai (Simbutlong) Land Owners' Welfare Association (LOWA), Noney sub-division has demanded replacement of contractor of the said project.
In a release, LOWA chairman Gailung Gangmei informed that MTDC special class contractor W Ratan Kumar Singh had withdrawn Rs 70 lakh out of project's total cost of Rs 5,01,05,337 on July 1, 2021 but it is over 15 months that construction work has been at its foundation stage without any progress.
Expressing fear that the time-bound project will overshoot the deadline of 18 months as there has been no significant progress, the chairman also recounted that a team of Zeliangrong Students' Union visited the work site and reported to the minister concerned about the substandard work.
As such, he demanded the contractor concerned be removed and the project entrusted to an honest contractor.
As donor of the land LOWA appeals to the Minister concerned to initiate appropriate action against the defaulting contractor, the chairman said and cautioned that the public might launch agitation if no action is taken against the defaulting contractor.
