Officials of Thoubal Forest Division were also present at the time of conducting the test amidst strong protest from local residents.
From 10am, large number of local residents gathered at MIE, Khoirom complex and shouted slogans demanding shifting of MIE from Khoirom and protested air and noise pollution level test.
However, large number of Thoubal district police, CDO Thoubal and women police personnel led by additional SP, SDPOs and OC controlled the situation and facilitated Manipur Pollution Control Board officials in testing air and noise pollution level in MIE Khoirom and nearby houses.
Though local residents piled up logs and burnt tyres on the road to prevent forest officials, pollution board officials and police from coming out from the MIE complex, the road was cleared after officials talked with the protestors.
Results of the test conducted Monday will be submitted to State Level Committee, which will discuss the result and decide accordingly on pollution level of the MIE.
