Thoubal, July 30 2022: Thoubal District has been awarded 2nd position in the Best Performing District category under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) for the year 2020-21.Union Home Minister, Amit Shah handed over the award to A Rameshwar Singh, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Thoubal today during the National Conference on "Drug Trafficking and National Security" held at Punjab Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh in the presence of Union Social Justice & Empowerment Minister, Dr Virendra Kumar.

NMBA was launched in 2020 by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in 272 most Vulnerable districts across India.

It was initiated to address the problem of drug abuse among the youths.

Since then various activities are being conducted to fight and eradicate the evil of drug abuse.
