Imphal, February 20 2023:
Zeme Naga Council, Manipur has appealed to Affected Land and Property Owners' Association (ALPOA) of NH 137 Tamenglong-Mahur Road to reconsider their ongoing agitation of halting NHIDCL works which was launched from Sunday.
In a release, the Council informed that the company or work agencies are not the authority for addressing grievances of the affected people and advised ALPOA to approach state or central governments without disturbing NHIDCL.
While clarifying that it is not against the demands placed by ALPAO, the Council pointed out obstructing a public welfare project is not the right way to raise grievances.
"Construction of the road is long-awaited dream in our remote region and any disturbances caused will lead to discontentment amongst the people of the state", said the Council and also maintained that people in the area will not remain muted in case of any attempt to derail the national project.
ZNCM also drew the attention of state and central governments to look into the matter and bring an amicable solution once and for all.
