A group of well wishers of Manipur from different part of the world raised money, procured many essential life saving supplies and were distributed to some of the hospitals in the state including RIMS, JNIMS and some district hospitals.
The group of well wishers including British citizens, RIMS alumni, MU/DM College alumni and many citizens of Manipur currently residing in France, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, UAE and UK etc came together and contributed the amount along with contributions made by many people of the state, said a statement issued by Dr Elangbam Bishwajeet, one of the well wishers currently in Birmingham, UK .
Dr Elangbam Bishwajeet added that the group was hoping that the small contribution they made was able to help many patients in getting emergency life saving treatments while waiting for essential supplies from main sources.
He also thanked the ground team in Manipur whose contribution made the distribution of essential items possible at this critical juncture.
He also appreciated the many people in the state who are already doing their best in ways they can to help in managing the crisis and appealed the public to donate generously to local hospitals and ensure vital medical supplies like oxygen mask, venous cannula, intravenous fluids and other essential drugs are readily available at the hospitals to enable the hospitals to start treatment on arrival to the hospitals.
Dr Elangbam Bishwajeet added that the pandemic would only end through a strong community spirit and most scientific collective efforts are made by all.
