YFPHR urges to stop poll violence

Expressing concern over escalating incidents of violence in connection with the upcoming assembly elections in different parts of state, Youth's Forum for Protection of Human Rights (YFPHR) has urged the government, Governor, Mani-pur Human Rights Commission and Home department to intervene so as to ensure peaceful conduct of the polls.
In a release, YFPHR secretary! Sadiskanta saidthat the violence related to election could be observed since mid 2020 in Andro assembly constituency till date, resulting in destruction of houses and injuries suffered by many innocent people.
Similar incidents have also been reported in Heirok, Khangabok and Yairipok of Thoubal district.
Any actors instigating, violence should be held accountable and punished according to the rule of law, the Forum asserted and described as truly shameful that the state government has done nothing to put an end to the violence occurring in the state.
Urging the government to direct the intending candidates in various constituencies to stop violence and respect the rule of law, Sadiskanta appealed to the people to refrain from indulging in violence.
