CPI launches campaign for Yashwant Sinha

Communist Party of India (CPI) along with likeminded parties have started campaign for Yashwant Sinha, opposition's common candidate for the presidential election to be held on July 18.In a statement, CPI Manipur State Committee informed that left parties - CPI, CPI-M, CPI-LM, RSP and Forward Bloc have been in talk for several months to project a common candidate against BJP's nominee for the presidential election in order to save democracy, secularism, federalism and constitution.
Consequently, opposition parties in a joint meeting held on June 21 agreed to project former union minister Yashwant Sinha, who is well versed with the political situation and governance of the country as the common candidate for the opposition, the statement maintained.
