Four held with 20 kg brown sugar, 437.5 gm heroin

Imphal, September 16 2021:
A team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) police station arrested four persons and recovered 20 kg of brown sugar and 437.5 g of heroin from two Tata trucks at Singjamei Yumnam Leikai section of the Indo-Myanmar Road on Wednesday.
The arrested quartet has been identified as Mohd Anish Khan (32), son of late Md Nurul Haque of Lilong Ushoipokpi Bazar near oil pump; Md Sabir Ahamed (27), son of Samim Ahamed of Lilong Ayangbi Leikai; Md Sahidur Rahaman (29), son of Md Samidur Rahaman of Lilong Ushoipokpi Makha near powerhouse; and Nm Zakariya (19) son of Nm Mv Abdul Jalil of Lilong Ipham.
According to a police report, the NAB team stopped and checked the two trucks (AS11AC/7732 & AS01JC/4897) around 4pm and found the said drug consignment.
During the preliminary interrogation, the four revealed of involvement in illicit trafficking of drugs for the last few years and that the seized drugs were being transported for sale outside the state.
Further investigation is going on and some inter-state links have been established, the report added.
