Wildfire reduces reserved forest to ashes

Bishnupur, March 13 2023: A wildfire, which broke out at Langjing Manbi (Langching Manbi) Reserved Forest area in Henglep AC on Sunday afternoon and continued to burn till late evening, has left large parts of the forest area in smithereens.

People settled nearby witnessed the fire burning till late evening.

The fire is suspected to be man-made, deliberately ignited by some individuals from the northern side of the forest.

After hearing news of the fire, staff of Moirang Forest Range, Moirang MLA Thongam Shanti and a large number of police personnel led by Additional SP Bishnupur (L&O) Satyam along with personnel of IRB posted at Naransena, staff of Moirang Fire Service and nearby villagers worked together to extinguish the flames.
