VA flays MPCB over stone crusher plant

Laipharok Maring Village Authority has urged Manipur Pollution Control Board (MPCB) to review it decision of allowing setting up of a stone crusher plant right next to Laipharok Maring village market shed under Irilbung police station.
In a release, Laipharok Maring VA chairman Ch Yaima appealed to stone crusher plant owner not to set up such plants near public places, while urging MPCB to hand out licence/certificate only after proper inspection of the plant site.
MPCB must answer why it issued a certificate to M/S Omila Stone Crusher Industry, Keirao Lamdung Lamkhai, despite repeated requests by Laipharok villagers not to set up the stone crusher plant near the market shed, it posed.
The Village Authority asked the MPCB not to allow such plant which can cause noise pollution and other health hazards close to public facility in consideration of students and youth.
While advising the own to shift the plant to other suitable location, it reiterated that the Department concerned look into the matter at the earliest.
