Governor, CM, others extend Diwali greetings

Several government representatives including Manipur Governor La Ganesan, chief minister N Biren and ministers of various departments extended greetings to the public of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights.
In separate releases, Governor La Ganesan, chief minister N Biren, Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Y Khemchand Singh, Agriculture and Veterinary minister O Lukhoi Singh, Forest, Environment and Climate Change minister Awangbow Newmai, Works/RD&PR minister Th Biswajit Singh and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution minister Th Satyabrata Singh extended greetings to the public of Manipur on the occasion of Diwali, which is one of the biggest festivals of the Hindus celebrated across the country.
Diwali, which is also known as the festival of lights is celebrated in honour of Lord Rama's return to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana.
The festival also signifies the triumph of good over evil, of light over darkness, the releases said.
They also wished that the festival brings peace, prosperity and harmony among the different communities residing in Manipur.
