Webinar on vector borne diseases conducted

National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), Ministry of Home Affairs and Department of Teacher Education, Manipur University jointly organised a one-day national seminar on the topic 'Protecting Children from Vector Borne Diseases' on Thursday.
The webinar was attended by MU VC Prof N Lokendra Singh, NIDM executive director Major General M K Bindal, Child Centric Disaster Risk Reduction Centre, NIDM head Professor Santoshkumar, MU registrar Professor W Chandbabu Singh and MU Department of Teacher Education head Prof T Inaobi Singh among others.
National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, DHS, Goa State Programme officer Dr Kalpana Mahatme deliberated on 'Protecting children from malaria' and Apollo Hospitals, DRDO, Hyderabad emergency physician Dr Sameera Khan spoke on 'Protecting children from dengue' as resource persons.
Speaking at the event, programme coordinator Dr Koijam Sobita Devi highlighted that protecting children from vector borne diseases is the responsibility of the people and observed that raising children with love and affection and ensuring physical, emotional and social development will help them in becoming complete person.
