SPG team arrives, security beefed up

Imphal, November 26 2014:
A team of the Special Protection Group (SPG) led by a DIG arrived here today ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the State on November 30 .
A high-ranking police officer of the State Government informed that security measures at the State capital have been tightened in view of the Prime Minister's visit.
Meanwhile, the SPG team has started examining all security related matters on all the routes through which the Prime Minister's motorcade may pass through.
Frisking and checking exercises have been stepped at all strategic points of the city.

The Prime Minister may either travel by road from Imphal airport to the Manipur Sangai Festival venue or he may be brought up to Kangla in a helicopter before travelling up to the festival venue by road.
The mode of travel has not been decided yet.
Governor KK Paul, Chief Minister O Ibobi and senior Ministers of the State Government would receive the Prime Minister at the airport.
After attending the closing ceremony of the Sangai festival for one hour, Narendra Modi would hold a meeting with BJP office bearers and supporters at the party office.
On the other hand, Imphal East district police have beefed up security measures ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the State.
The district police team, along with women personnel, conducted a search operation at Nahabam and Thumbu-thong area under Porompat PS this morning.
All the people of the localities including women between the age group of 18 and 50 years were verified at Nahabam Basketball ground.
Five bailout persons were detained by the police team and handed over to the Porompat PS for further verification.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Singhajit, Additional SP (Operation) of Imphal East and M Roni, DSP (Commando) Imphal East and led by Inspector P Achouba, OC of Imphal East commando.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will grace the closing ceremony of the ongoing Sangai Festival on November 30 .
The PM will also attend the BJP Manipur meeting at the party office the same day.
CM O Ibobi held a meeting with high ranking officials yesterday to discuss the PM's visit.
