Imphal, July 24 2011:
Questioning the motive behind suspending Th Bishwajit while withholding his resignation letter, The Thongju Kendra Development Committee has sought attention of the Chief Minister with an appeal to deliver justice and accept Bishwajit's resignation letter.
Notably, Th Bishwajit is preparing to contest the Assembly elections in Thongju AC.
In connection with the suspension of Bishwajit who was a Progress Assistant in Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, a public meeting was held today at Ningomthong Kitna Panung Mela Ground.
Many speakers who addressed the meeting decried the suspension of Bishwajit allegedly on fabricated charges.
Saying that Bishwajit had tendered his resignation letter ten months back, they appealed to the authority concerned to accept his resignation letter.
Bishwajit was suspended from service on July 20 on the charge that his assets were not compatible with his known sources of income.
Before the suspension order was issued, Bishwajit had submitted his resignation letter on October 25 last year.
Directing the Vigilance to take up a case against Bishwajit allegedly on false charges and then suspending him while keeping his resignation letter in abeyance for the last ten months lacked justification and it smacked of a conspiracy, the speakers asserted.
They also rejected the Vigilance Commission's assertion that Bishwajit has Rs 2,65,700 lakhs exceeding his known sources of income.
Saying that Bishwajit joined service on November 15, 1997, the speakers pointed out the inconsistency with the Vigilance report which said that Bishwajit was given monthly salaries starting from February 1999 .
hey asked where have salaries of the first 16 months gone.
Questioning the mandatory requirement of integrity certificate before one resigns from Government service, they alleged that the whole process of suspending Bishwajit has created a sense of suspicion among the mass whether some Government departments were acting hand in glove in a sinister conspiracy.
The people's suspicion was hardened all the more when photo copies of the suspension order of the Grade III employee was distributed in different areas of Thongju AC.
The speakers also raised strong voice dissent against any attitude of dictatorship guided by parochial political outlook.
They further urged upon the Chief Minister to find out the facts and accept Bishwajit's resignation letter.
