Security has been beefed up in Ukhrul town ahead of the scheduled visit of the Chief Minister and some members of the Council of Ministers tomorrow.
Additional security forces have arrived from Imphal while personnel of 41 Assam Rifles are also on a round the clock vigil to prevent any untoward incident during the tour of the Chief Minister to inaugurate five projects in the district tomorrow.
Speaking to this correspondent, an official source said that a police officer of the rank of IG has been camping at Ukhrul district headquarters for the last few days overseeing the security measures being taken up for the high profile visit of the Chief Minister.
Bakshi ground where the chopper carrying the Chief Minister and his men will land has already been cordoned off by personnel of 41 Assam Rifles.
The district hospital at Hungpung, which will be inaugurated tomorrow, has also been spruced up and thoroughly sanitised for the inauguration programme tomorrow.
The inauguration site and chopper landing site is just 1 km from the main town of Ukhrul district headquarters.
Notably the 24 hours public curfew called by the Tangkhul Naga Long to boycott the visit of the Chief Minister came into effect from 4 pm today.
At the moment Ukhrul town wears a deserted look with no one venturing outside.
