Tamenglong Court inauguration

Tamenglong, April 23 2011:
Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court Madan Lokur, Advocate General of Manipur N Koteshwar, Advocate of Gauhati High Court, Imphal Branch Rajenlung Kamei and Assistant Registrar of Gauhati High Court, Kohima Branch were among the high ranking legal officials who landed at Tamenglong district for the first time yesterday with the purpose of re-opening the district court.
Soon after arrival, the team visited the site of the district court complex to ensure its opening.
The district court has been laying defunct for the last many years.
On the way back to Imphal, the team stopped at Noney today where village leaders, SDC Noney Manglem Dangmei and SDO Nungba Kajaiogai welcomed the dignitaries along with presentation of traditional gifts and staging of cultural programmes by the local artistes.
After having lunch, the dignitaries also interacted with the public.
Talking to mediapersons on the sideline of the interaction, the Chief Justice, who was overwhelmed by the warm welcome accorded to him and his party, explained that the purpose of the visit to Tamenglong district was to re-open the district court which has been laying defunct for a long time.
He assured the re-opening of the district court would be helpful in resolving pending cases and dispensing justice to the people.
While at Noney, the Chief Justice, who expressed shock over the deplorable condition of the Tamenglong district headquarters road, went to meet the OC of BRTF 83-RCC and prevailed upon the latter to ensure improvement of the road at the earliest possible.
