Low trend continues with 48 cases in 24 hrs
State records one more Covid death to take tally to 337

Even though the State recorded one more COVID-19 death during the last 24 hours taking the official death toll to 337 .
The number of fresh positive cases detected in a single day further dropped to 48 .
Taking due note of the declining number of positive cases, authorities have initiated due process to open regular OPDs at RIMS, JNIMS and district hospitals.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, a 48-year old man from Imphal East expired at RIMS Hospital during the last 24 hours.
In the meantime, 48 people including one personnel of CAPF tested positive for COVID-19 at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal West, Maipakpi Hospital, Hillside Hospital, Remedy Hospital, Escent Diagnostics, Raj Medicity, Shija Hospital, Tamenglong, Ukhrul and Babina Diagnostics.
The 47 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (23), Imphal East (14), Thoubal (4), Bishnupur (2), Ukhrul (2), Tengnoupal (1) and Tamenglong (1) .
All of them are locals who do not have any significant travel history.
On the other hand, 134 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (2), home isolation (85), RIMS (9), JNIMS (2), CCC UNACCO (4), Kakching (8), Ukhrul (3), Shija Hospital (7), RD Wing (9), Bal Bhavan (4) and Tamenglong (1) .
The cumulative number of positive cases is 27,646 (general population 24,313 and Central security personnel 3,333) .
This figure includes 1,663 active cases (general population 1,458 and Central security personnel 205) and 25,646 discharged cases (general population 22,522 and Central security personnel 3,124) .
The recovery rate as on Sunday is 92.76 per cent.
With a view to consolidate the declining trend of COVID deaths in the State, it has been decided to open OPD services at RIMS and JNIMS at the earliest.
A decision to this effect was adopted at the State COVID coordination meeting chaired by the Principal Secretary (Health & Family Welfare) .
The meeting held yesterday was attended by Health Director, Directors and Medical Superintendents of RIMS and JNIMS, Senior Regional Director of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and senior officials of Health Department.
Following reports of shortage of doctors in the COVID wards of RIMS and JNIMS, Health Department has sent 11 doctors to the two hospitals on deputation.
