Imphal, August 17 2016:
Diesel autos are one major factors for the traffic congestion on Nagamapal road and Khoyathong road from around 9 am till 6 pm.
Yet, other factors are also contributing to the traffic congestion on these roads whose total distance is just around 1.5 Km.
Almost half the breadth of the eastern lane of Nagamapal road is occupied by Tata Magic vans, passenger jeeps, diesel autos and buses.
Moreover, a considerable portion of the road is occupied by street vendors.
The scene is quite similar on the western lane too.
Merchandises of shops which line up the road are seen spread up to the footpath.
Uripok-Nagamapal-Khoyathong road was also expanded to ease traffic congestion.
From Singjubung Leirak to Khoyathong Pukhri Achouba, a considerable portion of the western lane has been converted into parking lots without any authorization but its appears that no Government authority bothers to check it.

The road is even more congested at the junction leading to RIMS Road.
Traffic congestion at RIMS Road junction is suffocating during office hours.
The scene is made all the more confusing with diesel autos criss-crossing from all directions.
Traffic jam is a regular sight between Khoyathong Pukhri Achouba and RIMS Road junction.
TCP personnel deployed at RIMS Road junction may have a hard time in their efforts to manage the whirlpool of traffic but their presence seems to be quite ineffective.
One Open of Patsoi said that many passenger vehicles including diesel autos operating to and from Khwairamband Keithel do not possess necessary documents.
Traffic congestion in the State capital can be reduced to some extent, if Transport Department checks passengers vehicles which do not possess necessary documents, he added.
