Imphal, September 16 2020:
The National People's Party (NPP) 'led by Thangminlen Kipgen' has expelled Deputy CM Y Joykumar from the primary membership of the party for a period of 6 years.
NPP president Thangminlen Kipgen speaking to media persons said, Y Joykumar has told lies and deceiving things to Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma to break the party.
He was expelled from the party after the party's Disciplinary Action Committee recommended his expulsion for a period of six years.
Stating that all the four members who have won on the NPP tickets and became Ministers never cared for the party, he said they have not done anything worthwhile to strengthen or to develop the party.
After failing to get tickets from other parties the four had approached NPP and won the election on NPP tickets, he added.
Now NPP is a National party.
PA Sangma wanted to join the party and in an aim to make the party a strong party in the North East he was elected as the National president of the party in 2012, he said.
Acknowledging PA Sangma's role in strengthening the party, his son Conrad Sangma was appointed as the National president of the party.
NPP was founded by K Brajamohon Dev Sharma in 1989 and not by PA Sangma as claimed by Conrad Sangma, he claimed.
