Speaking to media on the sidelines of the protest, Sagolsem Kula, chairman of Bijang Khunou Meetei Leikai Cemetery, said that last rites of departed souls are being performing in the cemetery for the last 75-80 years but with the sudden threat issued made by KNO, people of the locality have put in a dilemma.
He stated that cadres of the outfit assaulted some villagers in connection with the matter on April 3 and a complaint was made to Kuki Inpi, Churachandpur and DC Churachandpur on May 7 but no positive response has been given so far.
He also urged the concerned authority to intervene into the matter and ensure that the cemetery is not shifted at any cost.
