Lamka, April 12 2015 :
Four people including a 41 year-old woman were injured after an explosion suspected to have been triggered by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off early today near Light House cinema-turned-military quarters here.
The blast occurred around 8.30 am on the outer edge of a roadside near Light House and a couple of metres away from from the SBI ATM booth.
Churachandpur SP L Mangkhogin Haokip said initial investigations conducted by the police recovered several nuts and bolts as well as splinters indicating that an IED was used to trigger the blast.
All the four injured persons who are believed to have been hit by minor splinters did not sustain any grave injury.

A non-local man identified as Harinder Shah (35) from Bihar was delivering a glass of sugarcane juice to Gopen (64), a painter occupying the room adjacent to the SBI ATM booth when the explosive went off.
Recounting the incident, Gopen said that he had seen a local man believed to be in his mid 30s with a backpack standing in front of the ATM booth about a minute before the blast briefly knocked his senses out.
Md Mushtagsem (17) and Shalma (41) who were inside a pan shop located on the other side of the road also recieved splinter injuries on the chest and leg.
The fact that the blast occurred on a Sunday morning prevented grave damages as most of the shops that bore the brunt of the blast on either side of the road were closed and the street was comparatively less crowded.
When enquired if any personnel were inside the bunker when the blast occurred, a BSF official told The Sangai Express, 'That's not important, I'll tell you later' .
However the nearest witness, Gopen, confirmed that a BSF personnel was inside, manning the thick earthen bunker at the time of the blast.
