Imphal, February 07 2015 :
Road construction works being executed in Bishnupur districts under PMGSY were inspected today by an official team led by Rural Development and Pan-chayati Raj Minister Francis Ngajokpa.
The inspection team also included Manipur State Rural Roads Development Agency (MSRRDA) Chief Engineer Ningthoujam Bapuchand, Additional CE Th Shyam-sunder, SE Brojen, SE Janaki and Th Deben of the Programme Implementing Unit.
The team first conducted a field assessment of the road connecting Nambol and Lei-mapokpam with Tidim Road.
The 3 Kms long IVR should be expanded and black topped.
At the moment, earth work is going on.
The 6.06 Kms long road from Tidim Road to Aimol Pony Farm via Irengbam, the 3.80 Km long road from Tidim Road to Khousabung, the 11 Kms long road from S Nabil village to Nalon village and the 5.10 Kms long road connecting Moirang-Kumbi road to Wangoo Sabal were also inspected by the team led by Francis Ngajokpa.

Construction work of these IVRs have reached different stages.
While a few are in the stage of laying granular sub base, others are in the stage of laying WBM.
Speaking to media persons in the course of the inspection drive, Francis Ngajokpa stated that all road construction works taken up under PMGSY should strictly comply with guidelines and there would no compromise on the qualitative aspect.
Apart from concerned engineers, State Quality Monitors (SQMs) and National Quality Monitors (NQMs) have been closely monitoring the road construction works.
The Minister and his team were planning to go up to Singhat area of Churachandpur district but the journey was cut short due to some circumstantial difficulties.
Expansion of roads in the valley is always problematic as it entails acquisition of land.
Road expansion and other development works can be successfully implemented if the local MLAs and the public cooperate with the implementing agencies.
Roads are assets for the State and its people, Francis Ngajokpa asserted.
While appealing to all the people to avoid filing litigation as far as possible, the Minister asked all contractors to be very scrupulous in executing contract works allotted to them.
All the works inspected today by the official team were taken up under PMGSY Phase-IX .
Any contractor found defying guidelines would not be let scot-free.
There was no question of nepotism at the time of allotting contract works, Francis Ngajokpa stated.
