Ranjita JAC submits memorandum to CM

The JAC formed in connection with the murder of Ranjita has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi urging him to book the culprits at the soon as possible.
Around 200 persons of the Yairipok Khoirom and Angtha proceeded to Imphal in a number of four wheeler vehicles.
The people first gathered near the first Manipur Rifles ground from where they proceeded towards CM resi- dence for submission of the memorandum.
But, a police team blocked them at Secretariat South Block junction.
However, a team of JAC was allowed to submit the memorandum to the Chief Minister and the rest of the people were detained at Moirangkhom area.
The visiting JAC team was unlucky and could not have an audience with the Chief Minister as he was out of his residence.
Nevertheless, the memorandum was submitted to the CM Secretariat after having fixed a meeting to be held on August 6.The JAC on its way back home also submitted a copy of the memorandum to the OC and SP of Thoubal district.
It may be worthy to mention here that the body of the 33 year old Thongram Ningol Lourembam Ongbi Ranjita, w/o L Loken Singh was found at a paddy field located at Ningel Khathongkhong Maril Mana Loukol in the night of Saturday last.
The locals believed that she was murdered after gang rape.
It is said that the JAC has mentioned in the memorandum to book the assailant(s) by August 6 failing which stiff agitation will be launched.
Despite this, payment of a commensurate compensation to the victim's family is also demanded in the memorandum.
Late Ranjita has left two sons and two daughters to her husband.
One of the JAC member charged that the progress of the police investigation was on slow pace and further added that the elected members including the MLA are extending helping hands to the assailants.
