Bail plea rejected

RK Memcha, Special Judge POCSO Imphal West today rejected and dismissed bail applications filed by six accused persons in connection with the sexual assault and death case of a minor girl from Mayang Imphal.
The bail application was filed by the main accused Md Arish, his father Md Sikandar Ali, mother Majida Begum and other three accused Md Salim Khan, Md Noor Mohhamad and Md Feji.
The Court heard the bail application through video conference.
During the hearing, the Special Public Prosecutor submitted that the chargesheets against all the accused persons had already been submitted before the Court.
There is sufficient prima facie evidence against all the accused persons, said the Special PP and prayed the Court to reject the bail applications.
The Special PP also submitted that in view of the nature of the case and the economic and other conditions of the victim family, if any of the alleged accused is released on bail there is a likelihood of them influencing the prosecution witnesses.
The Court after hearing the submissions rejected and dismissed the bail applications.
It may be mentioned that the minor girl was allegedly called out of her house on the pretext of eloping by her alleged boyfriend Md Arish and went missing on September 1.She was then found unconscious at a place at Mayang Imphal early morning next day (September 2) .
She was rushed to RIMS where she received treatment in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Ward.
On the same day, police arrested her alleged boyfriend and prime accused Md Arish and two other co-accused and on the next day, September 3, she died of her injury at the RIMS ICU Ward.
Further during the course of investigation, parents of the main accused/boyfriend Md Arish and another co-accused were arrested by police and all of them were remanded to judicial custody on September 9 .
Meanwhile, the JAC formed against alleged sexual assault and death of the minor girl has welcomed the order of the Court rejecting the bail applications of the accused persons.
