Govt announces ex-gratia

Besides announcing Rs 5 lakh each exgratia for the dead victims of today's earthquake, the State Govt has ordered temporary closure of all educational institutions for seven days with effect from today.
The order for closure of educational institutions was issued to ensure physical safety of students in view of today's earthquake and likely recurrence in the immediate future.
Govt Spokesperson and Education Minister M Okendro told media persons that the order was issued after an emergency Cabinet meeting was held this morning.
The Cabinet meeting was chaired by CM O Ibobi.
The Cabinet decided to provide Rs 5 lakh each to the dead victims as exgratia.
It further decided that the Govt would bear medical treatment expenses of the injured victims, Okendro said.
The Spokesperson further said that State forces and paramilitary personnel have been put on alert.
Respective DCs have also been asked to send reports of injuries, damages and loss of properties due to the earthquake.
The Govt further urged all concerned to call the Govt helpline numbers 0385-2440909/0385-2450783/0385-2444470/08974057273 for any information relating to the earthquake.
Meanwhile, an order issued by Commissioner (Hr & Tech Edn) said that in view of the ongoing MU's BA/B Sc/B Com semester exams, the Principals concerned should coordinate with the MU and make necessary arrangement to conduct the examinations in safe buildings only keeping in view the primary concern of the Govt for safety of students and submit prompt reports to the State Govt without fail.
