The stage is set for launching the first round of the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme in the State with every district administrations having made necessary arrangements for the success of the campaign.
The first round of the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme is scheduled to be launched from January 6 to 8 while the second round will be from February 10 to 12 .
According to information received by the press, a total of 3447 IPP booths would be opened in different parts of the State where parents can bring their children for administering the Pulse Polio drops.
In all 14,477 personnel including 13,788 vaccinators and 689 supervisors would be deployed to man these booths.
On January 7 and 8, 6894 teams would be pressed into action for conducting house to house visit for administering Polio drops to the children.
Meanwhile, to ensure the success of the first round of the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme scheduled to be launched from January 6 to 8 in Bishnupur district, a joint meeting of all the district level officials concerned of the district was held today Deputy Commissioner Aleng AS Shimray in the chair at his office chamber.
The first round of the Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme would be held from January 6 to 8 and the second round from January 10 to 12 .
The district administration is targeting to cover around 31,000 children during the first and the second round of the campaign.
In all 270 booths would be set up in different parts of the district where Polio vaccine would be administered to the children and 1080 personnel including 22 doctors would be pressed into service for the purpose.
The Pulse Polio booths would remain functional from 9 am to 4 pm every day of the campaign.
The district administration has also made arrangement for boats so that children of the families living in the houses constructed on the floating bio-masses of Loktak lake are not left out from the campaign.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner appealed to the doctors and other personnel to carry out their duties sincerely and with dedication.
The Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme will be held at Wel-Baby Clinic of the Department of Paediatrics, in the OPD Building of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Hospital on January 6 .
The clinic would function from 8 am to 4 pm, according to a statement issued by Medical Superintendent of RIMS Dr Y Mohen Singh.
At present, almost 80 percent of the total population of Maram circle have embraced Christianity, he said while expressing his aspiration to organise the festival at district or State level.
