A dose of history in Nritya Sanrachna

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh inaugurated the first festival of choreographic works "Nritya Sanrachna," organised by Sangeet Natak Akademi in association with the Manipur State Kala Akademi and JNMDA, today at Maharaja Chandrakirti auditorium, Palace Compound.
Speaking at the occasion, Chief Minister Ibobi conveyed deep appreciation to the organisers for organising the event in Manipur which is a cultural hub of the North East.
Pointing out that Maharaja Chandrakirti was one of the kings of Manipur who was a great patron of arts, having developed Nritya Raas and various innovations in Sankirtana performance during his lifetime, the CM said that it was apt that the Maharaja Chandrakirti auditorium is the venue of the festival.
He hoped that the festival will be a veritable presentation of some of the finest works in the country bridging the gender gap.
CM O Ibobi also released a journal 'Manipur Culture and Literature' on the occasion.

Shanti Bardhan of Ranga Sri Little Ballet Troupe, Bhopal presented choreography on the Ramayana and Th Chaotombi Singh of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal on Keibul Lamjao on the opening day of the festival.
Nritya Sanrachna is one of the several events focusing on contemporary choreography organised by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi in recent years.
It is being presented in Imphal in association with Manipur State Kala Akademi and Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal.
The festival features works of imminent choreographers as well as upcoming artistes in the field of choreography.
Meanwhile, secretary of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, Helen Acharya said that arts lovers would enjoy the treat offered by the participating groups during the Nritya Sanrachna.
