Ex-gratia for Sangakpham victims fixed

The State Cabinet today has recommended payment of Rs 2 lakh each to family members of those who were killed in the recent Sangakpham bomb blast.
Announcing this to media persons, spokesperson of the SPF Government and IFCD Minister N Biren informed that the Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh recommended payment of Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia each to the family members of the four persons who lost their lives in the bomb blast, Rs 1 lakh each to the seriously injured persons and Rs 30 thousand each to those with minor injuries.
It may be noted here that five people, including the alleged bomb planter, lost their lives while eight others sustained serious injuries in the bomb blast, which the Government claimed was triggered by NSCN (IM) .
The spokesperson explained that the amount of the ex-gratia has been increased to Rs 2 lakh considering the gravity of the attack.
Apart from offering a Grade-IV post, the Cabinet has also recommended payment of Rs 1 lakh to the family members of truck driver Md Rahaman, who was killed in the stone attacks by supporters of the bandh being called over Sadar hills district demand at New Keithelmabi along Imphal-Jiribam road, the spokesperson informed.
Among other recommendations adopted by the State Cabinet today, the spokesperson said that the Cabinet has approved recruitment of 109 posts on contract basis to ensure implementation of Support to the State Extension Programme for Extension Reforms of the Agriculture Department in all the districts.
The programme is to be implemented with 90 percent funding from the Centre and the remaining 10 percent to be funded by the State Government, the spokesperson pointed out, adding that 42 staff of the Departments would also be deputed for the implementation of the programme.
