Imphal, December 29 2015:
The 36th Archives Week Celebration cum Exhibition of Rare Maps and Archival Documents was held today at the Manipur State Archives complex, Keishampat here.
LMS Law College retired Principal RK Jhaljit, Art and Culture Secretary K Radhakumar and MU College Development Council retired Director Yumnam Mohendro attended the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
While inviting all enthusiastic students to access the documents available at the archives, RK Jhaljit appealed to all the scholars to share their knowledge and wisdom with the public.
He remarked that the Manipur State Archives is a treasure house of ancient records and knowledge.
K Radhakumar said that the western education system has many things to be appreciated.
Even though British imperialists colonised Manipur for many decades they did not destroy historical landmarks and monuments of Manipur.
There is a need to digitise all ancient records for preservation of all ancient records for posterity, he added.
