Imphal, December 28 2014:
A newly constructed temple of Ibudhou Pakhangba and a community hall constructed anew at the temple premises at Malom Tuliyaima, Imphal West district were inaugurated today by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi.
Speaking at the occasion, Ibobi stated Meiteis believed in and revered Umang Lais (sylvan deities) since time immemorial.
However, on account of the growing need to augment Imphal airport, requisite land was acquired along with Ibudhou Pankhangba's temple.
Maintaining that he himself did not wish shifting the abode of Ibudhou Pakhangba, Ibobi stated that the lord's abode was shifted with all the rites and rituals due to compulsion with due permission of local elders.

Airport expansion was planned and executed in the common interest of hill people and plain people of the State under a long term vision.
"It was a milestone achievement that people of the surrounding areas surrendered 600 acres for expansion of the airport as I was told by the Airport Authority of India", Ibobi said.
The Government would re-examine all the measures taken up to provide potable water to Malom and surrounding areas.
Necessary steps would be initiated to install two power transformers of 100 KVA and necessary assistance would be extended towards development of the temple premises, Ibobi assured.
He also conveyed best New Year wishes to the gathering.
MLA RK Anand and Imphal West DC K Radhakumar were also present at the inaugural function as special invitees.
