Potholes on NH-2 peeve CSOs, MAYO

Civil Society Organizations of Sadar Hills and Mayangkhang Area Youth Organization today expressed deep concern over the dilapidated road condition of National Highway-2 along Imphal-Dimapur road.
In a joint meeting held today at Kangpokpi over the ghastly condition of National Highway 2, CSOs of Sadar Hills and MAYO sought special attention of the State Government in improving the road which is the lifeline of the State.
The two bodies while strongly condemning the indifference of the State Government to the repeated pleas of various bodies to improve the highway expressed concern over the countless number of potholes along the highway between Gamgiphai and Taphou Kuki.

"Believe it or not, the present condition of the popular Trans Asian Highway No 1 is no less than a century old village road which is motorable only by Shaktiman", said the bodies while adding that the potholes are large enough to keel over heavy loaded vehicles which has become a threat to many road users.
The two bodies also said that it will be wise on the part of the State Government to demonstrate its existence by addressing the grievances of the people due to the ghoulish condition of National Highway 2 at the earliest.
While urging the State Government to shed its indifference to the pathetic condition of Imphal-Dimapur road and initiate immediate actions to improve the road, the two bodies cautioned that it will be compelled to launch various intense agitation if the State Government remains indifferent to the suffering of the people.
