Rishang bats for dialogue, peace

Former Chief Minister and former Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing has urged all concerned to resolve the present situation through talks.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the Governor's award and RK Sanatombi Devi awards 2015 distribution function held at Asha Jina complex, North AOC today.
The function was organised by the Managing Committee of RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya, Haotal (Pangei).
Lok Sabha MP Dr T Meinya and retired IAS officer and former MPSC member Pangambam Bharat were the president and guest of honour of the function respectively.
Rishang Keishing while speaking at the function observed that Manipur is passing through a tough test to maintain social peace.

The former Chief Minister urged the State Government to find a way to bring an end to the present imbroglio at the earliest.
Maintaining that some individuals are taking advantage of the present situation and spewing venom among people of different communities, he appealed to these individuals to stop playing divide and rule.
He also urged the concerned to resolve all the standoffs through talks even if the Government had committed any mistake.
Regarding RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya, Rishang Keishing said that the school has a very good record of providing better education to the students of the State.
He said that during his tenure as an MP, he provided Rs one crore for the construction of a hall at Adimjati complex and it is now nearing completion.
Rishang Keishing also said that Adimjati was established in 1952 by the first President of India, Dr Rajendra Prasad.
The Adimjati complex was reserved by the Government for the tribals coming from different parts of the State, he said.
Rishang Keishing said that he had deposited another Rs one crore for the establishment and construction of a 50-room tribal women's working hostel in Imphal and another Rs one crore for the establishment and construction of a 150-room tribal students' hostel in 2004 .
Governor's award and Rajkumari Sanatombi Devi awards are conferred to persons with excellence in the field of education, sports, social work, physically challenged persons, traffic control, organization of children home, journalism and handicraft etc.
This year's award winners are Melody Khoirom, first position holder of HSLC examination 2015, Irom Usharani, Lecturer of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy.
The outstanding sportspersons who received the award are Leishangthem Chanchalkumari (arm wrestling), Shushila Devi Likmabam (Judo), RK Abe (cycling), SS Rabi Javed (wrestling), Pukhrambam Rekha Devi (Taekwondo), Haobijam Mahe Devi (Boxing) .
Sagolsem Inaobi also received the award in differently abled persons' category.
