IRB man hurt in IED blasts

Imphal, May 26 2016:
One IRB personnel attached to BSF has been injured when two IEDs exploded in quick succession at Moirangpurel, Imphal East district under Lamlai police station at around 4 pm today.
According to information culled from the spot, two IEDs exploded one after another at Moirangpurel Maning Loubuk and one IRB personnel who was on ROP duty was hit by shrapnels on the right arm and abdomen.
The injured victim has been identified as one Sandeep.
He is a Constable of IRB Punjab presently attached to 49 Bn BSF.
He has been taken to RIMS and he is said to be out of danger.
The IEDs were planted between two trees separated by 15 metres on the paddy field.
Apart from leaving craters, leaves of the trees were charred at the impact of the twin explosion.
Later high ranking BSF officers came and inspected the blast sites.
Meanwhile the proscribed RPF has claimed responsibility for the bomb attack.
In a statement, the outfit said that the attack was carried out by a team of the Special Warfare of the PLA, its armed wing.
The chief of army staff of the outfit has extended his gratitude to all who extended help and assistance in carrying out the attack.
