Chief Minister's Widow Pension Scheme smart cards distributed

Chief Minister's Widow Pension Scheme smart cards were distributed to the beneficiaries today during a programme held at Yumnam Huidrom Thiyam Leishangkhong Awang community hall organised by BJP, Wangoi Mandal.
The programme was attended by Khadi and Village Industries Board Chairman and State BJP vice-president N Nimbus; former Minister Oinam Lukhoi; Imphal East Zila Parishad former Adhakshya P Bimol and Imphal West Zila Parishad former Adhakshya Y Dashumati as the presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, O Lukhoi said that considering the difficulties of the widows belonging to economical weaker sections of the State, the Chief Minister's Widow Pension Scheme was initiated to provide assistance to these widows.
He further informed that smart cards will be distributed to 140 beneficiaries of the scheme of Wangoi Assembly Constituency who have been selected by the relevant authorities.
The pension amount has been increased to Rs 500 per month and it will be credited through Direct Benefit Transfer and the widows who are within the age group of 40 to 59 years are eligible for the widows pension scheme, he added.
He also assured to add the eligible beneficiaries in the next phase without fail and said that he will extend best possible support to the widows belonging to weaker sections for their upliftment.
With regards to developmental activities in the Constituency, he appealed to all concerned to work sincerely for people's welfare setting aside all forms of differences and without political agendas for effective implementation of such works.
During the programme, the attendees observed one minute silence in the honour of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ex-Servicemen Cell convenor Laishram Rameshwor who was shot dead by some miscreants today morning.
